Reading the End Bookcast, Ep.78: Romance Novels and the Forcening Concludes

Happy Ides of March, friends! After a very tense podcast last week, in which Whiskey Jenny naysayed two of my absolutely favorite books in the whole world, we have again reached an accord this week and legitimately had to stop ourselves from talking forever about romance novels. We also chat about Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer’s book Agnes and the Hit Man, answer some listener mail, and preview some THRILLING NEW PODCAST CONTENT. 1. Eeee romance! Being newer to romance, very excited to get all of the recommendations. I was sad, however, to see no Tessa Dare! Have you read A Week to be Wicked? There is a fake engagement AND a road trip AND they kind of go from enemies to friends to lovers kind of. OR MAYBE I’m just mis-remembering the whole thing but that’s what I recall anyway! …and maybe now I’ll go reread the series…

  2. My girl Nora (Roberts)!! She’s the only romance author I read religiously.

That Unified Muppet theory is pure genius. I will admit to being an Order Muppet, but man, I do love a Chaos Muppet!

  3. Oh ho, the romance novels. We all feel very strongly about our own personal romance faves. And that’s just the way it’s always going to be!

  4. Ooh, ooh, naming the tropes, can I play? Because I think the one about unqualified people put in charge (WHICH IS MY FAVORITE) should be called Leadership Thrust Upon Them.
