Oo, thanks for the recommendation! I'll have to swipe my sister's university library card and get it out of the library for myself.

And that is cool about David Tennant! Drat the clipboard people. I am always hoping he will come to my state to film something, but I feel like the odds aren't too good.

I'd recommend Fits and Starts by Martha Noel Evans as a good history of, well, hysteria, actually, but psychiatry by default. And.... I've seen David Tennant. He was filming in my college and a group of us were having tea in nearby rooms. After a while we went outside and watched him for a bit before an officious person with a clipboard shooed us away. He IS lovely in the flesh.

The book I am currently reading on the subject tells lots of awful stories - and I'm only in the 1800s so far! I completely agree that people need to talk more, especially guys. Society seems to completely unfairly train guys not to talk with each other about feelings...

The history of psychiatry is interesting and sometimes quite scary! That series sounds interesting and the producers dedicated. David Tennant isn't my type. But I always enjoy hearing about squeal worthy enjoyment!
