jenclair – Recently the books haven’t been as good, but I enjoyed some of the later ones tremendously. The Hippopotamus Pool is one of my favorites. Maybe because I read them all in the space of about two weeks? I didn’t have time to be bothered by any changes in focus…

Care – Yes! Hooray! I love it when people read what I tell them to read. I don’t know why I didn’t become a librarian. I feel like maybe people would have listened to me more often if I were in a position of library power and wore severe-looking librarian glasses and a severe-looking librarian up-do. (I was going to write “severe-looking librarian bun” but that seemed like too much to expect of my hair.)

I’ve always enjoyed these light mysteries. I think I liked the first ones best, but maybe I just wasn’t ready for the focus to change to the next generation. 🙂

They’re so much fun. Actually three (The Mummy Case) and five (The Deeds of the Disturber) are both charming, though four (Lion in the Valley) is probably the best of the early books. In terms of how much it makes me laugh… But yeah, it’s probably best to read them in order (you can skip the second one really – it’s the weakest link of those first five).

I have two books in the Amelia Peabody series because I found them in a bargain bin a couple of years ago and they sounded like something I’d want to read. Only, I haven’t yet because they’re like book 3 and book 5 and I want to read them in order. The first book keeps popping up on Bookmooch, but I never mooch it for some reason. Next time I’ll make sure I do.
