I’ve been commenting a lot on 84, Charing Cross Road in recent days, and even mention it in my own review of a few epistolary novels. But, all of my gushing over 84 doesn’t compare to your really lovely review of the book. It has been a favorite book (and movie!) of mine for years, and I think your review really does it justice. No book lover should miss this book.

For a second, I read it as “wasn’t crazy about it” with “it” being “London”, and I was about to be all LONDON IS AMAZING – but yes, you’re right. I bet Duchess of Bloomsbury would be much better if you had been to London. It’s great!

I really liked 84, Charing Cross Road! I haven’t been to London yet, so maybe I’d relate to Bloomsbury a little more if I had (I wasn’t crazy about it). I’m glad I read these, though. I love books about books!

Good to know it’s not just my family! My sister sometimes sits in the rolling computer chair just so that she won’t have to walk anywhere. She sits and looks pitiful and begs us to roll her into the room she wants to be in AND WE DO.

It’s short, though! Be aware! Every time I read it, I get to the end and I’m all, Wait, I’m not finished. I AM NOT READY FOR THIS.

I laughed at the part about your sister. My sister is the exact same way! She’s working on her Masters right now, on the other side of the world, at a school that’s not easy to get in to, but still gets my mom to proof read her papers. I don’t get it.

Back to the books – 84 charing Cross Road was just recently added to my to-read list, and I cannot wait to read it. It sounds like such a wonderful book.
