And I wasn't even expecting it! I got to that part and was completely surprised and furious. Dreadful human man. I wanted Bilbo to kill him!

(Sheesh, I'm bloodthirsty. :P)

I hate that a human kills Smaug! The guy's not even a bit player in the book, just some random guy who comese along when needed. I love The Hobbit , and the rest of the books, but I get so annoyed at the part.

Are you sure?? The Hobbit is way not as good as Lord of the Rings. I'm reading Fellowship right now and it's getting gradually better and better as it goes along. I swear!

(I always love reading yours too - though reading the end is indeed amazing.)

Very fun. And our approaches to books are SO different! on many things (rereading, Woolf, reading the end first?!) but I love reading your thoughts.

I'm very sad to say that I already have lost much in my memory of what happened in The Hobbit just what, 4 weeks ago? since I wrote my post - darn it! I enjoyed it, but I can really see that I'm not immersed in Tolkeinlands! I won't be reading along for LOTR.

I don't think so. The name rings a bell - he was one of the five (five?) fancy wizard guys like Gandalf and Saruman, but then he liked trees too much, so he wasn't as good as Gandalf but he was still better than Saruman, right? I am vaguely remembering this from either the ROTK appendices or the letters of Tolkien I read one time. But I don't think he features much in The Hobbit. (Unless I just missed it, which is totally possible.)

Radagast the Brown? The eco-friendly wizard :)

Oh, I absolutely do. The middle is better if I have read the end already! Usually people are horrified when I tell them I read the end - so nice to find someone who agrees with me! :)

Ok I just saw the header of your blog about reading the end before the middle. Do you seriously? because I do too!!!!!!! Especially when I have school the next day and I need to go to sleep, I read the end first. A possible kindred spirit! lol.

I commented at the Angela Johnson post too, I'm done pestering now ;)
