I overall enjoy Patrick Ness, but I have to admit that I am not in a huge hurry to go back and read his other books. I remember when Chris said he bought some of them, though!

I feel so bad, as I bought The Knife of Whateveritis back in early spring and still haven’t gorren around to reading it. But I love the thought of a writer who can do really good parents. That is something most unusual and intriguing. I imagine coming off the back of a hugely successful trilogy, the next book must be really hard to write, and so it suffered in consequence!

Okay, long story, but once I developed a huge, huge, impossible crush on someone because (well, anyway mostly because) he correctly used phrases like “hagiographic lacquer” and made casual offhand references to books and people I love. And your whole third paragraph is a hagiographic lacquer moment for me. Ionescan idyll! Oh Other Jenny, how wonderful thou art.

This sex slavery/golf course business sounds very interesting, and also a little perplexing to me. I must say that I am rather interested in reading this one, but I will have to temper my excitement just a little and remember that you think it’s not as wonderful as his other books. You wrote a really wonderful review of this one though, and though I hadn’t heard of this book before, you really made me very curious about it.
