If he escaped for Harry then why the hell did it take him 12 years to even attempt it? He escaped the moment he saw Peter. maybe I was mislead by the movie. It did a good job of indicating that he was dead set on revenge.

Omg are you people so wrong about Sirius. Don’t downplay the guy’s hatred for Snape. Sirius may have joined the light side but he was Black through and through. He happily sent Snape down that tunnel while knowing full well that he would either be maimed or killed. Geez James wanted to apologize to Snape? Sirius would have been shocked if Snape had been killed? It’s as though you all can’t/won’t accept the fact that your idols were very cruel to their enemies. You practically invent non canon personalities for them. Are most of you James/Sirius fans 12 and under? Sirius tried to get Snape killed or maimed and he felt no remorse. He was no better than Bella. James was only saving his own ass and his gang of thugs when he rescued Severus. Now look up how long it takes most people to really change their way. Some people have said that it took them years or decades. Yet somehow James does it in a year? Well let’s see. Dumbledore made him the Headboy. It’s not like the might Dumbledore wasn’t biased or anything. He only let the marauders rule the school. James and co. set a record on breaking the school rules. James’ friend nearly got a student killed. Yet Dumbledore manipulates Snape into keeping quiet about it and he gave him detention to boot. He never touched his “pet” James Potter or Sirius. And let’s not forget that James continued to hex Snape “because he deserved it and only in retaliation”. Think about who said that. Sirius freaking Black said that. The same guy that tried to get Snape killed and never felt any remorse. He hated Snape with every fiber of his being. Why would he say anything that would make his “brother ” look bad in order to defend a hated enemy. Read between the lines. Remus on the other hand seemed to think that poor Snape was being mistreated. So james is the Headboy and still stalking Snape. Even though he knows that Lily hates it. Don’t forget how your “mature” hero got into a pissing contest with Vernon of all people. Even though his wife desperately wanted to mend her relationship with her sister. Oh how about how he and Sirius decided to bait some muggles? Heaven only knows where that “prank” would have lead before the deatheaters crashed the party. Get over it. Your boy James was the on other side of the deatheater coin. He was spoiled, rich, pureblooded, inconsiderate of “lesser” people’s feelings, arrogant, smug and merciless. Remember how Lily stated that he was growing restless because he couldn’t sneak out while under the invisibility cloak. He was leaving his wife and child alone so he could have some fun. They were hiding from Voldy at the time. It kills me how you James fans want to put that jerk on a pedestal. Let’s just agree to disagree. He is only an imaginary character. But it’s strange how Rowlings says that Draco would nevr change and yet James could have been his twin in some ways. But she wants him to be a hero. He changed for Lily lmao. If Lily had been a plain looking girl he would have stalked her as well. Just for being friends with Snape. But no, James got a boner for the pretty girl and people want to call it love. The same goes for Snape.

Once again I’ll applaud you for changing your ways. But you have to realize that half the bullies on this planet never change. They grow up and teach their kids how to bully others. Which is what would have happened to Harry if James had lived. James would have insisted that people could take the “jokes” and “pranks” al in the name of “fun”. When it comes to bullying I’ve been both the offender and the victim. I learned at an early age that it was wrong. Unlike James Potter I had a conscience. I’ve found that there are two types of people that follow people like James. Type 1 worships the bully, they would walk 5 miles just to sweat in his shadow They see themselves in that guy if they only had the nerve or brains or ect. Type 2 fears the guy and they pretend to enjoy whatever he does. They don’t necessarily like his actions but they’re afraid of displeasing him because then they would become the victims. That was the sort of jerk James was. In his world everyone worshipped him and heaven have mercy on anyone that opposed or displeased him because they might get “pranked” aka stalked and bullied.

The flaw in your logic is that it’s ignorant to believe that bullies can never grow up and change for the better. As a child, I used to bully some of the people I called friends because I was an awful person. However, now I’d never dream of such a thing and actively protect people from the same fate as my victims. While this doesn’t excuse my previous actions or erase any damage I’ve done people, I still like to think this is some improvement that literally took me a year of struggling with myself and my own flaws to arrive at. It’s really not fair to believe that people can never change when some, in fact, realize their mistakes, grow up, and move on. For example, despite his poor treatment of Snape, James planned on apologizing properly and unless I’m mistaken, make him The Godfather of his Nextel child, but never got the chance because of Voldemort.

Because they were a total juxtaposition of each other and the hatred for each other makes a lot of sense and is understandable from both points of view.
