Oh dear, overwriting… This sounds interesting on its surface, but I’ve read a lot of books that try too hard (especially books that are set in a non-Anglo-European setting but geared towards that audience, and thus feel the need to exoticize the locale), and overwriting can then just drag the whole book through the mud. (I’m thinking very specifically here about In the Shadow of the Banyan, which most people seemed to love but I really, really had issues with…)

Then again sibling dynamics are a thing that aren’t seen enough in literature. But even based on the short excerpts here… I don’t know, maybe this isn’t for me?
