You are one of the few bloggers I know who love this sort of book as much as I do. Straight on the list it goes. I've just finished a brilliant memoir about phobias by Allen Shawn, entitled Wish I Could Be There, which I will review next week. I promise faithfully to share all my poor mental health choices with you. :)

Glad you agree! My mother says I make strange choices in my cover competitions, which has rendered me a bit nervous about the validity of my opinions. :p

This sounds really interesting. And what an odd title too which makes it sound like a light, fanciful story. Definitely the American cover.

I'm so glad you liked it! You're right that it did such a great job with the highs and lows, which I don't think we usually see in books on the topic; everyone is usually so quick to highlight the bad. It was easy to see why the narrator cared so much for his mother and that she had a vibrant, distinct personality, even separate from her mental illness.

I've read a similar book a few months ago - mother depressed, story from son's perspective - and that just left me feel too weird. I think the book itself was just too weirdly narrated and the character's weren't well fleshed out. I'm curious about this one but will have to wait awhile before reading it.
