The weirdness sounds good to me. My grossness tolerance is high, but also depends on the context. A lot of the time it ends up making me laugh when it shouldnt because a lot of gross-out attempts feel a bit forced to me.

In reply to danahuff. Yep! Maggots is my line! I watched many gross things on the early seasons of House, and the only episode I skipped was the one my mum told me had maggots in it. I can't with maggots.

In reply to Jeane. Actually, I don't know that you need to know the ending to appreciate that there is a point to all the gruesomeness. It has some things in common with the gruesomeness of, for instance, Lord of the Flies -- the point that people don't always act in promotion of the common good, and without that, society falls very much apart.

In reply to aartichapati. Ugh, I just got another shiver thinking about the maggot eater girl. Gross gross gross. The ending nearly made up for the gross stuff I couldn't handle but I probably wouldn't wade through all the yuckiness again just for the good ending.

I am super intrigued by this book now. Just to see how gross it can get. And my tolerance for grossness is very low too, so I don’t know why that intrigues me. But, this book does sound very weird, different, and unique!
