Catching up on my blog reading - great link round-up. Love the crows leaving gifts - makes me think of the crow in Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. The Kate Elliott piece was great - though I was a little miffed by the comments by readers who disliked her advice re: women speaking to each other, because in their own experience they didn't have female friends. Ugh, I mean, fine that is your life, but first, Elliott wasn't saying all your characters needed to have female friends, just that authors should stop and think if their writing never or rarely features female-to-female interaction and second, it seems like good writer advice not to just write female characters that adhere firmly to your own life's experience.

There is a crow that comes to my parents house in India every day around midday. My mom feeds it and then it comes back the next day and the next and the next... Even when she returns back to her home after six months with us in the US, the crow will be waiting for her. These are such amazing creatures and it bothers me that they get some bad rap. Thanks for sharing that link!

I am not familiar with Pérez's work, but I'm looking forward to seeing what he does with the series. Aja had such a totally unique style of drawing, it'll be strange to have someone else doing it.

I think it's meant to be the noun version of "marm" -- though I'm just guessing. What link was it from? (You can see I immediately forget everything after I post my link round-ups. :p)
