I like ballet movies. Heck I like dance movies in general even when they are completely idiotic as long as the music and the dancing is good. The last book I remember reading that had ballet in it was a Flowers in the Attic book. While I wouldn't mind there being more ballet books or ballroom books, I'd like to see more books with gardening in them.

I'm not sure how this one is, but to make a generalization: I find that verse novels are a good gateway to poetry. They're not (normally) more complex lines. The ones I've read (Sonya Sones, Ellen Hopkins, etc) are pretty straight forward with the narrative. They're quick reads too :)

But I know the struggle of poetry. I'm a poet and even I struggle with a lot of it, haha. Many of the more modern poets are easier to digest than what's shoved down our throats in school and all that.

I loved Astonish Me by Maggie Shipstead which I read a couple of months ago for SNB. I adore ballet books too, and I think I can probably get past capital letter overuse. Better than making hideous errors about the ballet world, I think, in my personal judgement scale!

Yes, do! I recommend A Candle for St. Jude, by Rumer Godden, which is superb. Or Listen to a Nightingale, which is about ballet and has a dog.

Ahahaha, yeah, there are zillions of them. I have very fond memories of them also -- Ballet Shoes and Circus Shoes and Skating Shoes are my favorites, and I loved Movie Shoes but learned recentlyish that the American edition was EXTENSIVELY ABRIDGED. So now I am on a (slow but steady) mission to acquire the British unabridged version.
