Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. I’m so scared now. I need Kate Bishop to remain awesome.

Semi-related: my BFF told me she doesn’t like Hawkeye even though she’s never even read any comics about him, and I had a strong emotional reaction to this, and it got me wondering why Clint Barton isn’t on my Highly Exclusive List of Favourite Literary Characters. And I realized it’s because I don’t necessarily love him whenever anyone other than Matt Fraction writes him. This, in turn, made me realize how lucky I am that I’ve loved Kate Bishop across multiple writers. Now I’m even more scared Jeff Lemire will do awful things with her.

A lot of it, at the time. I found it super stressful both in that I didn’t LIKE everyone fighting each other and in keeping track of all the comics being interlinked and what came when and ahhhhh why are they doing this to meeeeee?

Pretty much any gif of Oz doing anything warms my heart. He’s the best of the significant others on all of Buffy, I’m pretty sure.

Ugh I am so worried that when Jeff Lemire takes over writing Hawkeye, he’ll keep Kate Bishop around but he’ll make her lame instead of awesome. The comics I’ve read by him so far have been liiiiike, not great in terms of nuanced lady characters.

Well, now’s the time! The series is supposed to wrap up sometime next month — alas! — and then Jeff Lemire is taking over, which I guess will be fine. I guess.

Oh, um — only sort of! This post doesn’t get into it, but essentially, there’s a team called the Young Avengers, and Kate Bishop belongs to it, and she goes by Hawkeye sometimes (because when the Young Avengers are founded, Hawkeye is presently dead or something). But original recipe Hawkeye is actually not dead because nobody’s dead in comics, so sometimes he and Kate team up and fight crime together.
