Speaking of the moral ambiguity of war, I am reading a book called The Garden of Evening Mists right now. I’m reading it quite slowly (I read everything quite slowly these days), but it is about WWII from a Malaysian perspective (with Japan coming in and doing a lot of horrible things) and it’s quite good and informative and you might like it.

Oo, a movie adaptation sounds like it would be ROUGH. Some really sad things happen.

I don’t know that it’s slower than Ishiguro in some of his books, though! If that helps! So if you’re fine with it in his books, you might be fine with it in Forna’s work as well.

Oh right I forgot Wikipedia exists and you can read up on things without reading a whole book about them. Right. Right. I’ll have to do that.

I suppose, if you like books that unfold that way. I’m watching Sense8 now, which is a show that unfolds very VERY slowly, and just — it’s good but I just wish it would move faster.

Do! Although…maybe not right this minute? I’m not sure she’d be the perfect author for a time when you’re looking for non-stressful reads.
