How is this called a "sequel" to Five Children and It and not a fanfic? That book was one of the two most beloved in my family.
Love these links :D Anger on the internet...sigh. I find myself staying away from social media more and more often. The constant indignation grates on one's soul.

I'm going to have to read that Strange Fruit article for sure. I read a graphic novel with that same title but it's not the same one referenced. I don't think? Off to investigate!

Great links! I thought the anger rules infographic was really good. If only everyone followed it! And yes please on the sequel to Rebecca. I think Max needs to have an "accident." Also, I have to get to reading me some African SF!

You always find the best links, Jenny. I loved the diagram about what to do with anger on the internet. Maybe it could be reproduced as a sticky alongside all the comments sections of national newspapers? Because I read those and feel my heart sink for the human race.

That Gene Denby piece is terrific. I'm absolutely against flying the Confederate flag in public spaces, and I wouldn't have it in my home now, but I grew up with it, and its meaning to me and many others back then was not really about race. I think the racist meaning trumps any regional pride meanings, but I also don't want to make assumptions about the individuals who feel an attachment to it. It's more complicated than just racial hatred.

And the Rebecca piece is so great. I liked that Maxim (sort of) saw the error of his ways, though, because I can't quite get over my crush on him, even though I know he's terrible.

I went home from work and read it. It's really pretty darn good, though I think the author took the Psammead in a different direction. Expect review soonish.
