I really liked The Winter People. I also thoroughly enjoyed Don’t Breathe a Word (fairies!) and The One I Left Behind. That one doesn’t have hints of the supernatural in it. The other two I mentioned do.

I’m afraid to overhype this book, but it’s seriously soooooo good. It alternates between past and present and is delightfully creepy.

Oo, okay, so this is my first book by her! Do you have a recommendation of where I should go next? I have vague recollections that I’ve heard good things about The Winter People and Dismantled, but I am open to suggestion.

McMahon is one of my favorite authors because all of her stories are just so atmospheric and unusual, but in a good way. I can’t wait to see what she writes next!

My Audible credits just came through yesterday and I snapped this one up ASAP. The narrator does such a fantastic job building the creepiness factor throughout. Also, Jennifer McMahon’s last novel prominently featured an old farmhouse with a creeeeeeepy diary and creeeeeeeepy happenings, so you might want to check that one out. It’s called The Winter People, and it’s at the top of my McMahon list right now.
