I heard so many amazing things about Sorcerer to the Crown! But the book will only be released in here in 10 days and I refuse to pay 10€ for an ebook ;p So far Spirits Abroad is brilliant. Love that there is no glossary and plenty of words and concept I don’t know. Also: dragons, faries vs boredom, orang unian and aunties.

It’s especially crazy because the story is actually that he submitted a poem 59 times before it was accepted. And such is the landscape of poetry submissions (sounds horribly depressing). I don’t think he proved anything about what’s valued in the world of poetry by using this Asian-sounding fake name.

Oo, okay, this is a tough one! I actually don’t read a ton of high fantasy in my life, which it sounds like is what you’re looking for. Gosh. I’m going to say, try Jane Yolen’s duology “Sister Light Sister Dark” and “White Jenna”, as those are both quite good (& dark!). If you can live with something a little younger but with plenty of politicking and machinations, I’d recommend Megan Whalen Turner’s Queen’s Thief series: the first one is good, but the second, third, and fourth ones are CRAZY good.
