Because I don't know about this book, and because I LOVED CRIMSON PEAK, I'm just going to talk here about the latter.

What did you think of it, because I loved that Edith went all badass by the end and wasn't rescued but did the recusing AND that Thomas was this feeble little thing that controlled nothing. I may have also almost wet myself laughing at Lucille's face stab because it was so wonderfully out of control and in that fit of rage I could see it occurring.

Now I need to read Udolpho and Otranto.

It quite possibly may be the worst book in history, but your thoughts are so hilarious that I might actually read this book and your MONKALONG posts together, so that I can snark along with you and get the jokes. Is the book not even good enough for that purpose?

I have not seen the greatest movie of our time :( Jenny, you are such a trooper for finishing this "garbage-fire" as you say! I doubt in this case, reading the end before you read the middle would have helped in any way whatsoever :P

There are no GIFs more appropriate for this post than Crimson Peak GIFs. I feel certain that Guillermo read The Monk and said to himself, "I can do better."

Not ONLY did Agnes take care of Lorenzo instead of the other way around, she avoided talking about HER ordeal because she knew it would remind him of Antonia's death. WTF. W. T. F.
Thank the devil this book is over. Oh, shit...I still have to read the last chapter.

II cannot convince people around me to go see Crimson Peak and I am SO MAD AT ALL OF THEM THIS LOOKS AMAZING.

"Agnes marries her long-winded boyfriend (may you always be satisfied), and Lorenzo marries his consolation prize (ditto)" HA

Well thanks for that Agnes gif Jenny, if I never sleep again it will be all your fault. Heh.

But really, thank you for taking one for the team and reading this so that I don't have to. I was under the vague impression that I ought to read it one day, but never really wanted to. Now I'm freeeee! At the price of the Agnes gif, I suppose. As for how could this ever have become a book, give Shelley's fiction a whirl, no horrible rapes as far as I recall but quite stupifyingly tedious. Glad he stuck to the poetry.
