I'm so with you on the Stephen Moffat front.. I need him to leave!!! I've still been watching the show, but I just complain constantly about it to anyone who'll listen :P I've yet to find any books that properly fill the good-dr-who void, but I'm all ears if anyone else has any suggestions ;) Great review!

Obligatory Tennant gif *fistpump* Ha now I really want to read this one and relive the gloriousness of DW, heavyhandedness and deus ex machina won't stop me!
Actually after grieving the 10th doctor for ages I gave 11 a try and despite the emo doctor annoying early Amy and Moffet drama, found I enjoyed it quite a bit. Tried the newest DW but even though it's a bit better I'm just not feeling it. Best antidote is to just rewatch 20 and Donna Noble.

Coincidentally, I just published a post about my recent adventures with the Doctor Who media tie in novels. I turned to them because I can't seem to warm up to Moffat's Who but I miss it and wanted to revisit Series 1 and 2 particularly. They won't win any literary awards but they've been scratching that itch and the audios are read by the series actors. I am apparently pretty fond of a heavy-handed premise because the above sounds pretty delightful. Too bad it didn't work better.

I am not a Dr.Who watcher, at least not regularly. I kind of ghost in and out of that world. But this book actually sounds fun - heavy handed premise or no.

I'll be honest and say I sort of stopped watching doctor who for a long bit after Matt Smith and Amy Pond got on my nerves one too many times. I only recently starting on season 8 with the 12th Doctor and... not feeling really. There are some good episodes here and there and I like Clara and the new Doctor alright but something about the writing and plotting of the episodes is just jarring and scatter-brained. I feel like Steve Moffat has just lost his mojo...I'll keep watching but I'm not holding any high expectations anymore.

Is this a humorous book at all? Because it sounds perfect if it's got a humorous edge to it.
And we are still watching DW but totally not enjoying it. I don't like Clara and the stories are all pretty bad. Can we just go back to David Tennant somehow?

I've been reading progressively weirder short stories in an effort to fill the Who shaped void in my TV diet. Highly recommend Karen Russel's Vampires in the Lemon Grove for this.

Ugh, I haven't watched Who since...one of the terrible Christmas episodes with 11? So, it's been a while. But, as it turns out, I will be going to a Doctor Who convention in February, lmao.

I actually feel like A Tale of Time City is very DW-ish! Except for missing an older alien who knows all the answers, of course. Also The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which makes sense of course because Douglas Adams wrote a few DW episodes way back when.

Moffat is an ass but I'm too hooked on Who to stop watching at this point. I liked the Doctor better this season but the episodes are all two-parters and frequently grim, though this last one was pretty darn good and Peter Capaldi finally got to show his acting chops. Still, I miss the lightheartedness Tennant and Smith brought to the role. Oh, as for the book, sounds enjoyable. :)
