It is so much fun when history comes alive due to the skill of an excellent biographer. LOVING these posts. Think of how dreary this year would be if Miranda hadn’t decided to read THIS BOOK. Right? What if he hadn’t picked it up or had thought “whoa, this thing is TOO long.”

GOOD POINT, I love that Hamilton was defending people from vicious mobs. It reminded me of Jamie Fraser in one of the Outlander books, when he defends a printer with Loyalist tendencies at the big risk of his own neck. Hell to the yes.

I did it. I finally downloaded the original Broadway cast of Hamilton and have been listening to it at work. I have the biography, but I will be reading that one in my own time. I have to get to these things slowly, you know!

I know shockingly little about American history. BUT, I’m definitely enjoying the “18th century crash course” experience. Also, I wish I were suited to being a fearless, swashbuckling intellectual warrior who excelled in bare-knuckled controversy, TOO! Talk about a love letter to the guy. I have a sneaking suspicion Chernow harbors some Laurens-like feelings for A. Ham and his bad-assery. And shapely legs.

Yeah I am kind of awful at history because my eyes always glazed over/I would memorize what I needed for tests and then it promptly left my brain. I AM ASHAMED.

BUUUUT I am digging the heck out of Chernow’s Hamilton. I’m also happy that I’m reading alongside some history buffs who can alert me to when things aren’t quite as Chernow depicts them. But for now I am just going to enjoy how much Chernow describes people’s eyebrows and shapely legs.

While in no way disputing your very important point that Margaret threw herself in front of an angry mob, I feel that Margaret would want me to point out that she didn't do it for love of Richard Armitage, who she didn't even like at that point, but just because it was The Right Thing To Do.
