Ok, here’s what I’ve read: The Education of Koko by Francine Patterson and Eugene Linden,
Silent Partners by Eugene Linden, The Ape in Our House by Cathy Hayes, Kanzi by Sue Rumbaugh, Lucy: Growing Up Human by Maurice Temerlin, Nim by Herbert S. Terrace. Fiction: Eva by Peter Dickinson.

Ones I haven’t read yet- Lucy by Laurence Gonzales, Ape House by Sarah Gruen, The Evolution of Bruno Littlemore by Benjamin Hale.

I feel like there are more unread ones I’ve missed, but I combed thru my TBRs and that’s all I could find!

Okay so I finished it. I mostly agree with you. I kind of read the last page like “that’s it?” I also wasn’t super info the pacing of the book. It seemed off somehow. I think I would have liked more chimp stuff, less total meltdown of this family.

Oh, no! I am super excited about this book, too, because like you, it seems to have SO MUCH that is applause-worthy. Sigh. Well, I will read it, anyway.

Oh what a bummer that the ideas in this one didn’t quite pan out so well. But it’s good to see that the author had some great ideas and that you liked the book nevertheless!

Yay this sounds so so good. And even if it does not quite live up to the premise I think I’ll want to give it a try! Even if most stories about animals and books on racism make me cry, so there 🙂

I really like books about science in general, but a book about a chimp being used for research and living with people strikes me as something with a lot of potential to be very sad. I read that description and am put off by the possibility of something terrible happening to the chimp!
