Soooo, I read the first chapter of this over the weekend but also of other books and couldn’t really decide what I felt like reading. And then I remembered today that you were talking about this book on Twitter so here I come to see what you had to say to see if I should start it or return it at the library tonight, and…. UGH. I think I’ll pass. I’ll pass for all of the reasons you listed, but even without those reasons, for this line alone:

“He saw the opening between the two towers as a vagina into which to shove the hard-nosed dick of the plane. ”

PASS PASS PASS. Thanks for this whole post. ESPECIALLY because of Brock Turner and ESPECIALLY because of Orlando I am so not in the mood for this shit.

I appreciation how generous you are with the author’s intentions. This kind of thing makes me tired all over. We know what they think of us; it’s not going to make more sense or be more worth listening to if their story gets written over and over. God, I’m exhausted.

Ugh that last passage. Ugh, just ugh. I would love not to read any more books that glorify male sexuality. There is grounds for having some of that stuff published but if sex (or lack of it) is the reason for every tragedy on earth, then I don’t want to read any of that stuff. Kudos to you for this post!
