We don’t always get our mail out of the mailbox on the day it comes, so Ron went out today and brought back both a note from your mother and this book. I took the book outside at 1:30 and started reading it while we had lunch (we are doing everything outside while this lovely 90-degree-heat lasts in Ohio) and then I moved over to the glider and finished the book in an hour and a half. It was lovely, just what I needed at this point in the weekend. It made me cry, but in a good way. I’m glad I read it, and I have you to thank!

Yeah, I mean — I recognize that it’s not the greatest book that’s ever been written. But it was just so exactly what I needed this week, and that made me love it more than I otherwise might have.

It’s new, I think! As far as new children’s books go, I am utterly at sea. Mumsy is my only source for those. I don’t know how she finds out about them!

Ooh, yeah, didn’t even think of that. I liked that too, now that you mention it. Jamie was all interested in the pilots, and Ada very typically for her didn’t want to enter into any emotional engagements with other people when she didn’t have to. What an excellent book.
