Oh how very interesting! You are a star, Jenny. I always feel more intelligent after reading one of your posts and I love your African series.

As a footnote, because your book was written before it happened, there was an attempted coup against Obiang in 2004 involving mercenaries, British financiers and allegedly Mark Thatcher and Jeffrey Archer – very interesting reading and there’s a documentary floating about somewhere. Most of the people involved seem to have been fantastists…

I am full of admiration for your project – Africa really is the dark continent as far as literature and even information is concerned. I recently read ‘Prisoners of Geography’ which is intended as a simple and readable guide to some of the world’s political issues (well worth reading) but I felt even that threw up its hands somewhat when it came to Africa.
