I feel like RIP would be the opportunity reread books 1 and 2 of her newest series and then read the final book. But I am such a slow reader :((

The Bloodprint sounded so good and exciting, so I said yes to a review copy even though I’m trying not to do that so much any more but then when I started it was just boring and confusing and the characters seemed like stick figures. So disappointing! Was it just me?

Passing Strange looks promising! I’m pretty sure Peters would hate The Painted Queen. She couldn’t stand for anyone to mess with her work. There was one movie made from her books—Ammie Come Home—and she hated it so much rumor has it she bought every copy she could just so no one would see it, and never sold movie rights to her books again. It really wasn’t, like, THAT bad of a movie, she was just a control freak.

I think The Painted Queen will be fine as there were so many prior Peabody books that Hess could always reference for tone and style. I am not always a fan of finishing the books of others though. I think Terry Pratchett did the right thing by having his works in progress hard drive steamrollered posthumously (even though it makes me sad). His voice would have been diluted enough in them that it would have been depressing.

I was JUST NOW realizing that I now have access to The Shadowed Sun and thinking I ought to grab it.

Mostly, I don’t think other writers ought to finish books. But then look what Ursula did with DWJ’s Islands of Chaldea — I’m grateful to have that book!

Yay for RIP. This year though I am a little lost for recommendation. I haven’t read any of the Amanda Peabody books, so maybe that would be a good place to start. Still looking for something gothic, horror, along those lines.
