I just started this one to read at the gym and I am way into it so far. There’s lots of worldbuilding, but it feels really natural and interesting. Yay!

Yessss, what you said? I was pretty much blown away by this one and I found the story engaging as well as cleverly complex. Have to admit to keeping a list of characters though ? Really hope she’ll write more non-YA books

I actually already ordered in two copies of Jade City in paperback (way to go, me, even if I didn't remember that!) for when it comes out in June. I think I'll hold off on ordering the hardcover now, but if you'd like to share here or off list a suggestion of great books for a scifi fantasy speculative section, I'd be most appreciative!

Oh! “Secondary world fantasy” means it takes place in an imaginary world (ie not our world). And YES, I very much think this would be a good book selection for a bookstore such as you describe. In proof of this I can report that I went to a dear little indie bookstore this past weekend with a fairly small SFF section, and they had Jade City.

Also, literally any time you want to diversify your SFF section, please apply to me. Any time, day or night. I will always want to help. I LOVE SFF.

In reply to helen (a gallimaufry). Yes, I read that one! I liked it a lot, but then I didn't care for the sequel at all. I'd be interested to hear what you think of the sequel -- I may just have been too depressed to read something as sad as the sequel is. :p
