Happy Sunday, beautiful friends! Are you having an okay weekend so far? Are you watching Face Off, the greatest reality competition show of all time, ten seasons of which are now streaming on Hulu? Because if not, you should be. Face Off is incredible. Get on it. In the meantime, I’ve got some stuff to share that’s making me happy this week. Happy about: Having the opportunity to see Kara Walker’s latest installation, “Katastwof Karavan” at Algiers Point this weekend. Inspired by the history of Algiers Point, where slaves were held after arriving from Africa, Kara Walker built this caravan…

Happy about:

Having the opportunity to see Kara Walker’s latest installation, “Katastwof Karavan” at Algiers Point this weekend. Inspired by the history of Algiers Point, where slaves were held after arriving from Africa, Kara Walker built this caravan and installed a working calliope in it. She held performances several times this past week where songs of black liberation were played on the calliope. It sounded kind of like music and kind of like hundreds of terrified humans screaming in agony.

Delighted by:

Oprah surprising Tiffany Haddish on Ellen’s show. Tiffany Haddish is a treasure. “You said that to me in a dream!”

Relieved about:

Being assured that the MOTHERFUCKING SNAKE I found in my garden is not a water moccasin. I was very afraid that it was a water moccasin, but no, it is a non-venomous plain-bellied water snake. If it comes back, I can spray it with a hose to make it go away. In fact I think that the snake and I can live in harmony. But look how fat this snake is! Would you not be alarmed if you walked out on your porch and beheld such a snake?
